Martine Bounet, a French native raised in Bordeaux, started her wine career in the trading arm of the highly respected Château Lynch Bages. This ignited her passion for everything that has to do with wine, from production to business. Her curious nature and willingness to learn about different cultures led her to travel widely. At the age of 22, she moved to the United States and then to London, UK where she settled and worked as a wine buyer for the wholesale arm of Berry Bros & Rudd Ltd.
Her position in wine as a buyer and educator provided her with the golden opportunity to discover the major wine regions in the world.
VINS deux MONDES® was created in 2006, but, it was in 2012 when Martine returned to Bordeaux that the company was officially launched with an overall offer that has since remained true to its core values ; offering wines and wine education with a difference.

Wine Education & Appreciation

Keen to structure her knowledge Martine obtained earlier on in her career various WSET qualifications as well as participating in the Master of Wines program for a number of years.
From all the enriching travels and knowledge she gained, she felt it was only natural to want to share her experiences. She thus became a WSET Level 3 certified educator and assessor. She is also the recipient of the honorific title of the Commanderie du Bontemps of the Bordeaux wines but definitely sees herself as a passionate ambassador for all wines that speak of their terroir.
She is a certified Wine Educator for the Bordeaux Wine School (CIVB) and is an independant taster taking part in different wine judging panels for official wine organisations.

Her teaching is drawn from her experiences as a buyer and being regularly on the grounds meeting fascinating producers who feeds her appetite for knowledge.
To this day, Martine is, on one hand, spending her time between continuing to grow the business focusing on sourcing wines mainly for the export markets. And on the other hand, she delivers wine education through her work with the WSET, with the Bordeaux Wine School and through organising wine themed events for corporate and privates.
When organising and hosting her own wine related events she offers the participants the opportunity to get into the appreciation of wine through an innovative approach…using techniques taken from her other passion…Yoga. As a keen practictioner and teacher with 23 years of experience in the field of Yoga, she launched in 2018 Pause, Breathe, Taste©. Pause, Breathe, Taste© is an invitation to taste and learn about wine differently.

Rarely standing still and with a true interest in how to explore the senses, Martine has taken up the challenge to learn about Sign Languages and holds the B2 level French Sign Language certification with the intention to incorporate her knowledge into the world of wine.

Wine Sourcing & Representation

Martine spends a tremendous amount of time and energy sourcing and creating valued relationships with wine producers. Some of whom she has known for over 20 years. The wines sources may be from classic and lesser known regions but they all share a sincere expression of their terroir. Producers see her as a genuine link between their work and their trade and end- customers
Some of the producers represented by VINS deux MONDES® are already highly respected by their peers and customers, whilst others are rapidly becoming the unmissable producers in their respective appellations.
Their attachment to their land makes their wines genuine Vin de Table: wine made for the table, for sharing, and for simple, unadulterated vinous enjoyment. In other words – care and passion in wonderful liquid form.

« We have seen great innovation in the vineyards, in the cellars, and at distribution level…when it comes to tasting we cannot expect dramatic innovation but we can definitely deepen our understanding on how to approach tasting from a sensorial angle. When using Yogic principles we can go further by supporting our learning and anchoring our memory of the experiences » Martine Bounet
